Descended from the Promised Land: The Legacy of Black Wall Street (2021)

In 1921, Greenwood District, the prosperous Black community known as Black Wall Street, was violently attacked, resulting in loss of lives and destruction of homes and businesses. This film follows the journey of descendants Byron Crenshaw, Jacqueline Blocker, and Michelle Blocker, exploring the century-long aftermath of the Tulsa Race Massacre. Through personal interviews and poignant storytelling, they shed light on the ongoing economic, psychological, and emotional struggles that have hindered the community's revival. Their journey honors the achievements and pride of their ancestors, while confronting the unfulfilled potential of a community that could have been a Black Promised Land.
